The many and various ways I pass the time now has a new addition. Usually it involves drinking coffee whilst sitting at a computer keeping in touch with chums, or sipping wine sitting on our tiny terrace catching the sun, and wondering what else I can do to avoid any cleaning or tidying or putting away of stuff and things that aren't even MINE. And now I am going to type this blog. Provided that doesn't become a chore as well, in which case...

I Have Been Wondering...

...if being a passenger in the MG is almost a form of healthy exercise. There is the continual bumping up and down, the fresh air, and quite a few calories being expended on trying to keep warm. It's a theory. DISCUSS.

Short update today as the sun is shining in our back garden.  I have an irrational loathing of the use of electronic devices out of doors, apart from digital cameras.  Well, loathing is a strong word.  Scrub that and replace with aversion to or dislike of, to suit. So I don't take the laptop outside and I don't intend to be indoors for a minute longer than I can help today.

So I will leave you with my nascent theory to discuss amongst yourselves and log back on some time after sunset.  Or the temperature dropping below 12c.  Whichever is the sooner.

  1. That sounds like my kind of special pleading. :-)

The big hill between us makes a real difference if the sun is shining where you are. Still cloudy and grey here.....

  2. Well, we have intermittent bursts of sun, merely. But enough to quaff a glass of Pimms each sitting at the garden table before embarking on prepping lunch. I have discovered it is, however, a Perfect Drying day, being both bright and breezy, so have just pegged out no fewer than eight of The Husband's T-shirts.

Gotta do it while we can...tomorrow is going to be shitty with a capital S and a capital H.

Please give us some prior notice of bringing The Boys into town over half term, so The Husband can set up some 3D pooter games for them. Yeah, you read it, 3D (rolls eyes in back of head...).

    1. Will do. Just think what a nice long natter you and I can have while the three boys enjoy themselves. I won't be able to drag our two away. :-)

ugh. 3D has MY eyes rolling and the vertigo, so they can have that all to themselves..

Now to matters serious. Is it possible to have one of those vibrating bottom-wiggling straps attached to the crank in the engine of the dragon? Thus you not only have the shivering and the pummelling but the equivalent of jogging 10 miles to the half as you sit alongside!

No question the fresh air will be boosting circulation and therefore calorie burning also. This is just looking better by the day - and so should you as a result.

Would advise against wearing the new cozzie in the open cab though. Sun-wind-burn. Not good.

Enjoy those sun peeks!!! YAM xx

  4. The 3D thing is a one-minute wonder to me. I think yeah, that is an amazing optical illusion, now, where did I put my quill pen and ink...

The more techno-kit I am exposed to the more I retreat into a world of my own imagining where hardly any of it exists (eg the dolly house). If I can find no practical application for a new invention that makes my life easier or more enjoyable I have no desire to be even told about it. It's like LA LA LA, fingers in ears, I'm not LISTENING!!

The entire seat of the MGB is a vibrating bottom-wiggling strap, Yam. In a year from now I shall have buns of steel, what with the bouncy car, and the summer riding lessons and sea-bathing, the occasional cycle rides up and down these Welsh hills...

...yeah, right. Not until I do all those things added together at least as much as I loll on the sofa or lie in bed. Which will, like, never HAPPEN!

I am what I am is what I am. Increasingly bottom heavy after a lifetime of Edwardian hourglass. My weight doesn't change much, merely the areas where it is stored.

I am at peace with this.

  5. The French think sitting a horse at the trot is good for the liver...all that bumping around.

They should try getting down the road to my house...a concrete bit,and then you're on the gravel and stones and, with the start of the rainy season the channels and gorges opening up.
You hang on to the straps for dear life....but my liver is in wonderful condition.

    1. Oh, that is good to read, Fly, as my liver needs all the help it can get to stay as healthy as it is. I expect quite a lot of it, what with my rich diet, enthusiastic alcohol intake and prescribed medication. I have an annual liver test, and so far, so good...

I grew up at the end of a track like that, and Perpetua's lane isn't a great deal better. Ah, for the sweep of a well-tended gravel drive, eh?
