The many and various ways I pass the time now has a new addition. Usually it involves drinking coffee whilst sitting at a computer keeping in touch with chums, or sipping wine sitting on our tiny terrace catching the sun, and wondering what else I can do to avoid any cleaning or tidying or putting away of stuff and things that aren't even MINE. And now I am going to type this blog. Provided that doesn't become a chore as well, in which case...

Oh, That Ghastly Godawful GOVE...

...will he, can he, EVER SHUT UP?!

And that is all she wrote....

Gove claims he has no ambitions to be PM because he knows "his limitations"
You are looking at the main one right HERE -
his stupid, silly, always-bloody-talking-never-bloody-listening, FACE

...tomorrow I will write at length about why this particular Tory cabinet minister-monster makes me screw up my toes inside my shoes.  Suffice to say, for now, that I am a highly qualified, moderately experienced, sometime secondary schoolteacher, and even though I am now retired, I still have a few ideas and thoughts about the realities of state school teaching.  Which GOVE singularly does NOT!  And nor will he listen to anyone who has, it would seem.

But today is Sunday, and the veg should be boiling, not my blood, so I am away to make our lunch.

Do join me in a small libation at noon, while I peel the spuds...mine's a Gin Ricky!

Chee-aaahs!

  1. I cringe to think that he is a graduate of my much-loved Oxford college. It should have stayed single-sex!

    1. Yes, that was a bad day's work LMH did, giving HIM a degree or even houseroom. He is the very definition of insufferable, to me...or at least his public political persona is, he may have redeeming features in private that are destined never to reach us in the wider electorate.

    3. But of course, your DS would have had to have gone to another college as well, had LMH not gone co-ed. Perhaps we should blame the Oxford Union for Gove's ghastliness, and not his college, as he was voted President.

But mostly I blame Gove himself, and also look askance at anyone who fawns on him and encourages him so they can ride his coat-tails. He is often described by political punters with a particularly trenchant turn of phrase as the Dail Mail "wet dream," which is fairly horrid expression for an increasingly horrid-in-my-view man.

I've written my second piece about him today, so my chest is as unencumbered as my scalp now! That's me done with politics for a while...

    4. He'd have had plenty to choose from, since in my day, among the undergraduate colleges there were only 5 for women, with the other 23 for men. Who knows which he would have chosen?

Dunno the bloke, but he's got the eyes of a cold fish. I look forward to reading your 'perspective' tomorrow!

    1. I am still marshalling my facts as well as focusing on how I have formed the very strong adverse ireaction I have to Gove. I hope to be ready by tomorrow, but if it takes a day or two longer please don't think I have forgotten.

As for the motorbike, ah well...can't win 'em all. You know, maybe you need to get the bandana and the Harley one day, Yam; it's your fantasy, after all!

    3. My thoughts precisely, Yam. We are of one accord.

I had a short spell as a biker rock chick between husbands, when I was in my early forties. A half-hearted biker rock chick. I dated a couple of bikers, and befriended many others at a biker pub I worked at, but rarely climbed aboard, as the bikers I knew never seemed to have bikes that actually WENT! LOL!

The bikes were either classics in bits or non-goers rusting gently in the British rain, even a Goldwing, I am sad to say. Their owners always had a car of sorts that went, though. Odd that...

  3. Didn't Education Minister Thatcher also declare that she had no ambition...etc....?

    1. Thatcher declared when asked about her future ambitions when she was Minister for Education that no woman would be PM in her lifetime. Even she at the time did not have the capacity to imagine such a thing coming to pass, as it was unthinkable to most people. She made my flesh crawl whenever she opened her mouth as well. Her style of utterance was worse, more repellent, than even the content was, just as Gove's is now. I do hope that is where the similarities between them will end...! Yikes! If he is ever PM I shall a disused Welsh pit and go and live in the bottom of it!
